How to book a Komodo liveaboard
From choosing a boat to boarding: what you do, what we do and when you pay.
In three steps
Choose your boat and dates
Compare boats, cabins and prices. The price calendar on each boat shows what is free, day by day.
Reserve your cabin
Pick a cabin and enter your details. The cabin is held for you, and we email your invoice within 24 hours.
Pay and set sail
Pay online following your invoice. The operator confirms your trip and sends the details before departure.
Booking a sharing trip
- Choose a boat and a departure on its page.
- Select your cabins. They are held for you while you fill in your details.
- Enter your details and choose how much to pay now and how to pay. You agree to the terms and policies at this step.
- We check your request and email your invoice within 24 hours.
Booking a private charter
- Open the boat page and choose the trip type and your dates. The price appears straight away.
- Send your request with your WhatsApp number. No payment is taken when you send it.
- The operator confirms availability within 24 hours and sends the next steps.
Payment
- 50% deposit within 3 days (72 hours) after the invoice is received.
- 50% balance at least 60 days before the trip.
- If you book less than 60 days before departure, you pay 100% at once.
Your reservation is confirmed when we receive the deposit. If it does not arrive in time, the cabins are released to other guests. If you have a problem with payment and need more time, tell us. Read the full Payment Policy.
Changes and cancellation
You can reschedule up to 65 days before your trip (sharing trips). A cancellation 60 days or more before departure gets a 40% refund of what you paid, and from 59 days to departure there is no refund. If the boat cannot sail because of an emergency, force majeure, bad weather or government rules, you can reschedule or take a 70% refund. The Terms & Conditions apply to sharing trips and private charters. See the Cancellation Policy and the Terms & Conditions.
Before you sail
- Arrive in Labuan Bajo (or Lombok, depending on your trip) the day before, so a late flight does not make you miss the boat.
- Check the boat page for what is included, and see the park fees that are added to your invoice.
- Carry travel or dive insurance, because it is not included.
- Tell us about food allergies or special occasions when you book.
Komodo liveaboard: how to book without surprises
Booking a Komodo liveaboard online takes a few minutes. Choose the Komodo liveaboard and the departure, tick the cabins you want and say how many guests sleep in each. Your cabins are held while you fill in your details, and the invoice arrives by email within 24 hours, with the deposit, the balance and the dates to pay them.
Read the cabin details of the Komodo liveaboard before you pay: some cabins are booked by at least two guests, some take a third guest on an extra bed at a lower price, and sharing cabins are sold by the bed. The Komodo liveaboard price on your invoice also includes the park fee for every guest, and the Komodo liveaboard pages show an approximate amount in US dollars beside each price in rupiah.
For a private Komodo liveaboard charter you send a request with your dates instead, and the operator confirms availability within 24 hours before anything is paid. After you pay the deposit for a sharing trip, the Komodo liveaboard operator confirms your trip and sends the details before departure. Book your Komodo liveaboard early for July and August, the busiest months.
Komodo National Park has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1991. Questions before you book a Komodo liveaboard? Message us on WhatsApp, or read how to choose a Komodo liveaboard first.
What to have ready before you book
Booking a Komodo liveaboard online takes a few minutes if you have these ready: your dates, the number of guests and how they will share the cabins, how many guests are Indonesian citizens and how many are under 2, your email address and WhatsApp number, and the payment method you will use.
Think also about anything the crew should know, such as food allergies, dietary needs or a celebration on board. The booking form has a notes field for it.
Step 1: choose the boat and the departure
Start on the page of the Komodo liveaboard you like. The price calendar shows every departure with the lowest price per person on the first day of the trip, and dots for the cabins still free. Tap a date to see its cabins in the booking form below.
If your date is full, look at the days around it or at another boat on the sharing trips page.
Step 2: choose your cabins on the Komodo liveaboard
Tick the cabins you want and say how many guests sleep in each. Each cabin shows its beds, its price per person and how many guests it takes. A cabin marked “min. 2 guests” is booked by at least two guests, a cabin marked “solo OK” can be booked by one guest, and a shared cabin is booked per person.
If a cabin takes an extra bed, the third guest pays the lower extra bed price. While you fill in the form, your cabins are held for 15 minutes, so other guests cannot take them.
Step 3: your details, the park fee and how to pay
Enter your name and contact details, then the number of Indonesian citizens aged 2 or older and of children under 2, so the park fee for your Komodo liveaboard is worked out correctly. The form shows the trip price, the park fee and the total.
Then choose how much to pay now: the 50% deposit, or the full amount if you prefer or if the trip is less than 60 days away. Choose a payment method, bank transfer, Wise or Revolut, add any notes for the crew and agree to the terms and policies.
Step 4: your Komodo liveaboard invoice
When you reserve, we check your request and email your invoice within 24 hours. It shows your booking reference, the cabins and guests, the trip price and the park fee line by line, the amount due now and, for a deposit, the balance with its date.
It also shows the payment instructions for the method you chose, with the booking reference to add to your payment. The status at the top changes from “Awaiting payment” to “Deposit paid” and then to “Paid in full” as your payments arrive.
Paying the deposit
Pay the deposit within 72 hours of receiving the invoice. Your cabins are held for you during that time, and if the payment has not arrived after 24 hours, you receive a reminder, and a second one after 48 hours. After 72 hours an unpaid reservation is cancelled and the cabins are released to other guests.
Every payment is checked and confirmed by our team, and your Komodo liveaboard booking is confirmed when the deposit arrives. If you need more time, tell us before the 72 hours are over.
Paying the balance of a Komodo liveaboard
The balance is due at least 60 days before the trip, and the date is on your invoice. If it is not paid by then, you receive reminders. A booking made less than 60 days before departure is paid in full at once, so there is no balance to pay later.
What happens after you pay
When your deposit arrives, the status on your invoice changes to “Deposit paid” and your cabins are confirmed. The Komodo liveaboard operator confirms your trip and sends the details before departure, such as the pick-up time and place. The balance date stays on your invoice, and you can pay it any time before then.
Booking a private Komodo liveaboard charter
For a private charter, open the boat page, choose the trip type and your dates, and enter your group, with the Indonesian citizens and children under 2. The price for your dates and group appears straight away, with the park fee and the estimated total.
Send the request with your WhatsApp number and agree to the terms. No payment is taken when you send it. The operator confirms availability within 24 hours, then we book the boat for you and send the invoice, with the same deposit and balance rules as a sharing trip.
Booking several cabins for a group
A group on a sharing trip can book several cabins in one booking, with one invoice and one payment. Tick all the cabins you need on the same departure and say how many guests sleep in each. For a larger group, compare the total with a private charter of the whole Komodo liveaboard.
Booking a Komodo liveaboard from Lombok
On the boats that sail between Lombok and Labuan Bajo, check the direction of the trip, from Lombok or back to Lombok, before you choose the date. Guests are collected in Senggigi, Kuta or Bangsal for the trips that start in Lombok. On some boats the park fee differs by direction and year, and the booking form uses the fee for your departure.
Booking a Komodo liveaboard close to the departure date
You can book a sharing trip online up to the day before departure, Labuan Bajo time. A booking made less than 60 days ahead is paid in full at once, and you have 72 hours after the invoice to pay, so pay as soon as you can for a trip that leaves soon. For a trip that leaves today, message us on WhatsApp to ask.
Children, special occasions and requests on a Komodo liveaboard
Children under 2 do not pay the park fee, and many cabins take a third guest on an extra bed at a lower price, which suits a family with a child. Ask us about the trip price for a child on the boat you have in mind.
For a birthday, an anniversary or a honeymoon, or for food allergies and dietary needs, use the notes field of the booking form or the “Anything we should know?” box of the charter request, so the crew can prepare.
Changing or cancelling a Komodo liveaboard booking
You can reschedule a sharing trip up to 65 days before it starts: message us with your booking reference and the new date you would like. A cancellation 60 days or more before departure gets a 40% refund of what you paid, and from 59 days before departure there is no refund.
If the boat cannot sail because of an emergency, force majeure, bad weather or government rules, you can reschedule your trip or take a 70% refund. The Cancellation Policy has the details.
Komodo liveaboard payment methods and currency
The invoice is in Indonesian rupiah, and you can pay by bank transfer, Wise or Revolut, following the instructions for the method you chose. If you pay from abroad, check the exchange rate and your bank’s fees, so the full amount arrives.
The boat pages show an approximate amount in US dollars beside each price, to help you compare. The amount to pay is the rupiah amount on the invoice.
Before you travel on your Komodo liveaboard
Arrive in Labuan Bajo, or in Lombok for the trips that start there, the day before the trip, so a delayed flight does not make you miss the boat. Check the pick-up time in the itinerary on the boat page: on most boats the transfer from the airport or your hotel in Labuan Bajo is included, and on the Lombok routes guests are collected in Senggigi, Kuta or Bangsal.
Bring travel insurance, the medicine you need, some cash for tips and drinks, and a copy of your invoice.
Booking with confidence
Your invoice comes from DiveTrips.id, with your booking reference and the payment instructions for the method you chose. Pay only to the details on your invoice, and add your booking reference to the payment so we can match it.
If anything looks different from what you expected, or you are not sure about a step, message us on WhatsApp before you pay. We answer questions about every Komodo liveaboard on this site.
Who does what
We take your booking, send your invoice and confirm your payments, and the operator of the boat runs the trip: the crew, the route and the meals on board. If you have a question before or after you book, you can reach us on WhatsApp, and we pass on anything the operator needs to know, such as dietary needs or a celebration.
If you are not ready to book yet
If your dates or your group are not fixed yet, you can still compare Komodo liveaboards and watch the availability on each boat page: the calendar shows the cabins still free for every departure. Cabins are only held once you start a booking, so for July, August and the December holidays it is better not to wait too long.
We are happy to answer questions on WhatsApp before you book, about the boats, the cabins, the route or the payment.
