Komodo liveaboard · Park fees

Komodo National Park fees

The park entrance fee is paid on top of the trip price. Here is how it works on our boats.

What to know

The Komodo National Park entrance fee is not included in the trip price. It is added to your invoice per person, per trip, and the amount depends on the boat, the route and the length of the trip. Foreign guests and Indonesian citizens pay different amounts.

Fees by boat

These are the amounts listed on our boat pages at the moment. The page of the boat you choose always shows the exact fee for that boat.

How you pay

The park entrance fee is added to your invoice, together with the trip price, so you pay one total. Cash is not accepted for the park fee.

Good to know

  • The fee is part of your invoice total.
  • Children under 2 years old do not pay the park fee. Children aged 2 and older pay the full fee.
  • Indonesian citizens pay the Indonesian citizen rate and foreign guests pay the foreign rate. You tell us how many guests are Indonesian citizens when you book.
  • The fee is set by the park authority and can change. The amount on your invoice is the fee that applies when we issue it. If the authority changes the fee after that, we will contact you before asking for any difference.

Komodo liveaboard park fees in practice

Komodo liveaboard park fees are set by the park authority and paid once per person for each trip, not per day. On every Komodo liveaboard on this site the fee is added to your invoice with the trip price, so you pay one total and carry no cash for it. You tell us how many guests are Indonesian citizens when you book, because they pay a lower rate, and children under 2 are free.

On most Komodo liveaboards that sail from Labuan Bajo the fee is IDR 650.000 for foreign guests and IDR 400.000 for Indonesian citizens. Trips that start or end in Lombok, and some Komodo liveaboards with longer routes, list a higher amount, which you can see in the table above and on the boat page.

Komodo National Park has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1991, and the rangers who lead the walk to see the Komodo dragons on a Komodo liveaboard trip are part of the park. If you sail on a Komodo liveaboard more than once, you pay the fee for each trip. See what a Komodo liveaboard costs and how to book a Komodo liveaboard.

Why Komodo liveaboard park fees are separate

The park entrance fee is set by the Komodo National Park authority, not by the boats or by us, and the authority can change it. That is why the fee is kept apart from the trip price on every Komodo liveaboard and added to your invoice per guest, so you always pay the amount that applies to your trip.

For you it is still one payment: the trip price and the park fee are on the same invoice, and you pay the total. You do not need cash for the park on the trip.

How Komodo liveaboard park fees are counted

The fee is counted per person for the trip, not per day. Each foreign guest pays the foreign rate, each Indonesian citizen aged 2 or older pays the citizen rate, and children under 2 do not pay. When you book, you tell us how many guests are Indonesian citizens and how many are under 2, and the invoice shows the calculation line by line.

For example, on a Komodo liveaboard with the standard fee, two foreign adults and one Indonesian citizen pay 2 x IDR 650.000 plus 1 x IDR 400.000, so IDR 1.700.000 in park fees for the trip.

Komodo liveaboard park fee examples for families and groups

A family of two foreign adults with a child of 5 and a baby of 1 pays the foreign fee three times, for the two adults and the child, and nothing for the baby: 3 x IDR 650.000, so IDR 1.950.000 on a boat with the standard fee.

A group of ten on a private Komodo liveaboard charter, eight foreign guests and two Indonesian citizens, pays 8 x IDR 650.000 plus 2 x IDR 400.000, so IDR 6.000.000. On a boat or route with a higher fee the same group pays more, and the charter request form shows the exact amount as soon as you enter your group.

On Lady Grace, which lists IDR 1.200.000 for foreign guests and IDR 700.000 for Indonesian citizens, two foreign adults and one Indonesian citizen pay 2 x IDR 1.200.000 plus 1 x IDR 700.000, so IDR 3.100.000, against IDR 1.700.000 on a boat with the standard fee. A mixed group of six on a standard boat, with three foreign guests, two Indonesian citizens and a baby, pays IDR 1.950.000 plus IDR 800.000, so IDR 2.750.000.

The Komodo liveaboard park fee step by step

On a sharing trip you choose the departure and your cabins, then enter how many of your guests are Indonesian citizens aged 2 or older and how many are under 2. The booking form works out the park fee from those numbers and shows it, guest group by guest group, with the trip price and the total.

When you reserve, the invoice lists the trip price and the park fee line by line, with the deposit or the full amount due now. On a private Komodo liveaboard charter, the request form does the same for the estimate, and the final amount is on your invoice.

Why some Komodo liveaboards list a higher fee

Most Komodo liveaboards that sail from Labuan Bajo list IDR 650.000 for foreign guests and IDR 400.000 for Indonesian citizens. The amount depends on the boat, the route and the length of the trip, and some boats list more, from IDR 700.000 to IDR 1.200.000 for foreign guests on their regular trips.

The table on this page shows the fee for every boat at the moment, and the boat page always shows the fee for its trips. The fee on your invoice is the one for your boat, your route and the year of your trip.

Komodo liveaboard park fees on the Lombok routes

Trips between Lombok and Labuan Bajo sail outside the park for part of the way, and each boat lists the fee for them. On Alfathran 3, for example, the 2027 fee is IDR 1.250.000 for foreign guests and IDR 650.000 for Indonesian citizens from Labuan Bajo to Lombok, and IDR 1.000.000 and IDR 500.000 from Lombok to Labuan Bajo.

When a boat lists a fee for a route or a year, the invoice uses it for departures on that route in that year, and the other departures use the boat’s regular fee. See the Lombok to Komodo liveaboard page for the boats on this route.

Where to find the Komodo liveaboard park fee for your boat

Each boat page shows the park fee in two places: in the list of what is not included, and in the booking tab, next to the note that the fee is added to your invoice. When a boat lists a different fee for a route or a year, the booking tab shows that fee as well, with the route and the year.

The table on this page brings the fees of all our boats together, so you can compare them before you choose a boat. If the table and the boat page ever differ, follow the boat page, which always shows the exact fee for that boat.

Komodo liveaboard park fees for Indonesian citizens

Indonesian citizens pay a lower park fee than foreign guests. When you book a sharing trip, the booking form asks how many guests are Indonesian citizens aged 2 or older, and the private charter request form asks the same, so the fee on the invoice is right from the start.

If your group mixes Indonesian citizens and foreign guests, each guest pays the rate for their own citizenship. If you are not sure which rate applies to someone in your group, ask us before you book.

Children and the park fee

Children under 2 years old do not pay the park fee on any Komodo liveaboard. From the age of 2, children pay the full fee for their group: the foreign rate or the Indonesian citizen rate. Tell us the number of children under 2 when you book, so they are not counted.

Park fees on a private Komodo liveaboard charter

On a private charter the park fee works in the same way: per guest, per trip, added to the invoice. The charter request form on each boat page adds the park fee to the estimate as soon as you enter your group, with fields for Indonesian citizens and children under 2, so the estimated total includes it.

The fee does not depend on the size of the boat or the price of the charter, only on your guests, your boat and your route, so a group on a private Komodo liveaboard pays the same fee per person as guests on a sharing trip with the same boat and route.

When you pay Komodo liveaboard park fees

The park fee is part of your invoice total, together with the trip price, so it is paid with your booking. The 50% deposit is worked out on the total, park fee included, and the balance follows at least 60 days before the trip. If you book less than 60 days ahead, you pay the full amount at once.

Cash is not accepted for the park fee, so there is nothing to pay at the park on the day. Keep your invoice with your travel documents.

Komodo liveaboard park fees and the prices you see

The prices on the boat pages, in the price calendar and in the cabin list are trip prices, without the park fee. The fee is shown separately on each boat page, under what is not included, and the booking form adds it to the total before you reserve.

When you compare two Komodo liveaboards, add the park fee for each one to the trip price, because a boat with a lower price and a higher fee can cost more in the end. For the cost per person, add the fee to the cabin price per person: for a foreign guest on a boat with the standard fee, that is IDR 650.000 on top of the trip price.

If the fee changes

The park authority can change the fee. The amount on your invoice is the fee that applies when we issue it, and if the authority changes it after that, we will contact you before asking for any difference.

Some boats already list a different fee for 2027, and your invoice uses the fee for the year of your Komodo liveaboard trip.

Other costs besides the trip price and the park fee

Besides the Komodo liveaboard price and the park fee, budget for your flights to Labuan Bajo or Lombok, hotels and meals before and after the trip, travel insurance or dive accident insurance, alcoholic drinks, personal expenses and tips for the crew and the guide. On most private charters, photo and drone documentation is an extra cost.

Each boat page lists what is included and what is not, and the Komodo liveaboard price guide explains what changes the price.

Visiting the park responsibly

Komodo National Park has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1991, and every guest on a Komodo liveaboard is a visitor to a protected park. On the islands, stay with the park ranger on the walks, keep your distance from the Komodo dragons and stay on the trails.

In the water, use reef-safe sunscreen, do not stand on or touch the coral, and give manta rays and turtles space. Take your rubbish back to the boat, and do not take shells, sand or coral from the beaches. A light footprint keeps the park as beautiful for the next Komodo liveaboard as it is for yours.

A park fee check before you book

Before you book a Komodo liveaboard, check three things: the park fee for your boat and route on the boat page, the number of guests in your group who are Indonesian citizens, and the number of children under 2. With those, the booking form or the charter request form shows the full total, park fees included.
