Why choose Lamborajo 2

Lamborajo 2 is a good choice for groups and for guests who like a lively boat. The rooftop deck with its bar is the meeting point at sunset, karaoke and a Bluetooth sound system bring music to the evenings, and the kayaks and the banana boat keep the afternoons busy.

The cabins of Lamborajo 2 are generous too. Every Superior cabin has a queen bed and a single bed, so three friends or a small family can share one cabin, and the Family Ocean cabin on the upper deck sleeps four. With departures twice a week, on Fridays and Mondays, it is easy to fit the trip into a holiday in Labuan Bajo.

The cabins on Lamborajo 2

All eight cabins on Lamborajo 2 have air conditioning and a private bathroom with a hot shower. The three ocean-view cabins are on the upper deck, and the five Superior cabins are on the lower deck.

Family Ocean Cabin. The Family Ocean cabin has a balcony and a view of the sea, with a queen bed and two extra beds for up to four guests.

Master Ocean Cabins. The two Master Ocean cabins also have a balcony and a sea view, with a queen bed and an extra bed for a third guest.

Superior Cabins. The five Superior cabins on the lower deck each have a queen bed and a single bed for up to three guests, and offer the lowest price on Lamborajo 2.

Prices on Lamborajo 2 are per person and depend on the cabin. The cabin cards on this page show the current price of every cabin, and the booking form shows which cabins are still free on each departure.

Day by day on the 3 day 2 night trip

Day 1. The transfer collects you at the airport or your hotel in Labuan Bajo between 8:00 and 10:00, and Lamborajo 2 sets sail with lunch on board. The first stop is Kelor, where a short, steep path climbs to a view over the bay. Manjarite follows for the first snorkel, and in the evening the boat anchors off Kalong Island, where thousands of flying foxes leave the mangroves at sunset.

Day 2. The day begins early with the trek up Padar Island and its view over three bays, followed by breakfast on board. Lamborajo 2 then sails to the Pink Beach for snorkelling and sunbathing and on to Komodo Island, where park rangers lead the walk to see the Komodo dragons. After lunch there is time at Taka Makassar, a sandbar that appears at low tide, and a snorkel at Manta Point, where manta rays often feed in the current.

Day 3. After breakfast the last snorkel is at Siaba or Sebayur, two islands with shallow reefs; Siaba is known for its green turtles. Lamborajo 2 is back in Labuan Bajo at about 12:00, and the transfer drops you at the airport or your hotel at about 13:00.

The order of the stops can change with the tides, the weather and the rules of the park. Snorkelling and treks are always optional, and guests who prefer to rest can stay on board.

The highlights of the route

Kelor Island. The first stop is also the first climb: a short but steep path to the top of the hill, with a view over the turquoise water and the islands around Labuan Bajo.

Kalong Island. Kalong is the Indonesian word for flying fox, and at dusk thousands of them leave the mangroves of this small island to feed on the larger islands. The boat anchors close by, so the deck is the best seat.

Padar Island. The view from the top of Padar, over three bays with beaches of white, pink and black sand, is one of the best-known in Indonesia.

Taka Makassar. This sandbar of white sand appears in the middle of the sea at low tide, surrounded by clear, shallow water that is ideal for a swim.

A day on board Lamborajo 2

On Lamborajo 2 the day starts with the sunrise. On the second morning the group climbs Padar before the heat, and breakfast is waiting on board after the walk down. The Pink Beach and Komodo Island fill the rest of the morning, and lunch is served while the boat moves on to the afternoon stops.

After Taka Makassar and Manta Point, with a snack and juices in between, the evening begins on the rooftop deck of Lamborajo 2. Dinner is served on board, inside or under the open sky, and the night is free for karaoke, music on the Bluetooth sound system or the stars over the park.

Snorkelling and water fun

Lamborajo 2 stops at five snorkelling spots on the 3 day 2 night trip: Manjarite on the first afternoon, the Pink Beach, Taka Makassar and Manta Point on the second day, and Siaba or Sebayur on the last morning. Fins, masks, snorkels and life jackets are on board, and the guide is with the group at every stop.

The reefs are mostly shallow and easy for beginners, with reef fish at every stop, turtles that are often seen at Siaba and manta rays at Manta Point when the current is right. Between the snorkels, Lamborajo 2 has kayaks and a banana boat for the water, and the two speedboats take the group to the beaches and back.

Life on board Lamborajo 2

Three meals a day are served on board, with mineral water, coffee and tea and an afternoon snack with juices. Lamborajo 2 has an indoor dining area and an outdoor one, so every meal can be eaten in the cool or in the breeze.

The rooftop deck with its bar is the social heart of the boat, and the sun deck is the place to rest between the stops. For the evenings there is karaoke, a TV and a Bluetooth sound system, and the cabins are cleaned every day. A tour guide joins every trip to explain the stops and the rules of the park.

The boat and its engine

Lamborajo 2 is powered by a Mitsubishi 8D C9 engine, with a double PS120 generator for the power on board, and cruises at seven to ten knots. Its tanks hold 8,000 litres of fuel and 13,000 litres of fresh water, and a water maker produces up to 4,000 litres of fresh water a day, so there is plenty of water for the showers during the whole trip.

For navigation the crew of Lamborajo 2 uses a compass, GPS and charts, with SSB and VHF radios on board, and life jackets are part of the snorkelling gear for every guest.

Sharing trip or private charter

On a sharing trip you book one or more cabins on a scheduled departure and share Lamborajo 2 with other guests. Sharing trips leave on Fridays and Mondays for three days and two nights, and the price is per person.

On a private charter the whole of Lamborajo 2 is yours, with its crew. Charters run for two days and one night, three days and two nights or four days and three nights, and the price depends on the length of the trip and the size of the group. The rooftop bar and the wide deck make Lamborajo 2 a good boat for a birthday, a reunion or a company trip.

The charter tab on this page shows the charter rates for each trip length, for groups of up to twenty guests. Send us your dates and we will check them with the operator.

About Komodo National Park

Komodo National Park covers the islands of Komodo, Rinca and Padar and many smaller ones between Sumbawa and Flores. It was founded in 1980 to protect the Komodo dragon, the largest living lizard, and was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1991.

Beneath the surface, strong currents carry food to coral reefs that are among the richest in Indonesia, home to turtles, reef fish and manta rays. Every walk among the dragons is led by park rangers, and the park entrance fee is added to the invoice of every Lamborajo 2 trip.

When to sail with Lamborajo 2
