Arham Jaya II is a friendly, good-value boat for couples, families and solo travellers: two Master Cabins with a balcony, a Private Cabin for couples and a Share Cabin where each place is booked on its own.

  • Length 27 m, beam 4.6 m
  • Built in 2020
  • Up to 15 guests, every cabin with a private bathroom
  • Wi-Fi on board
  • Home port: Labuan Bajo, Flores
Why choose Arham Jaya II

Arham Jaya II takes you on the same classic route through Komodo as the larger boats, with the dragons, Padar, the Pink Beach and Manta Point, at a friendly price. The two Master Cabins on the upper deck each have a private balcony, and the Share Cabin makes the trip easy for travellers on their own.

The boat is small enough for a relaxed atmosphere, where guests soon know each other by name. For the evenings there is a smart TV with karaoke, and the deck is the place for the sunsets.

The cabins on Arham Jaya II

All cabins on Arham Jaya II have air conditioning and a private bathroom. The two Master Cabins are on the upper deck, and the Private Cabin and the Share Cabin are on the main deck.

Master Cabin Balcony I and II. The two best cabins on board each have a double bed and a private balcony, with an extra bed for a third guest.

Private Cabin. A cabin on the main deck with a double bed for a couple, and an extra bed for a third guest.

Share Cabin. A shared cabin on the main deck with double beds and bunk beds for four guests, booked per person, with the lowest price on Arham Jaya II.

Prices on Arham Jaya II are per person and depend on the cabin. The cabin cards on this page show the current price of every cabin, and the booking form shows which cabins and places are still free on each departure.

Arham Jaya II for solo travellers

Travelling alone to Komodo is simple on Arham Jaya II. A place in the Share Cabin is booked per person, so a solo traveller pays for one place instead of a whole cabin, and friends travelling together can book two, three or all four places on one departure.

Meals, snorkel stops and treks are shared by the whole group, so a solo traveller is never on their own for long.

Day by day on the 3 day 2 night trip

Day 1. Arham Jaya II picks you up at the airport or your hotel in Labuan Bajo between 8:00 and 10:00, and lunch is served once the boat sets sail. The first stop is Kelor, a small island with a short, steep trek and a wide view of the bay. Manjarite follows for the first snorkel, and the day ends at Kalong Island, where thousands of flying foxes leave the mangroves at sunset.

Day 2. The full day in the park begins with the trek up Padar Island before breakfast, for the view over three bays with sand of different colours. Arham Jaya II then sails to the Pink Beach for snorkelling and sunbathing and on to Komodo Island, where park rangers lead the walk to see the Komodo dragons. After lunch the boat stops at Taka Makassar, a sandbar that appears at low tide, and at Manta Point, where manta rays often feed in the current.

Day 3. After breakfast the last snorkel is at Siaba or Sebayur, two islands with shallow reefs; Siaba is known for its green turtles. Arham Jaya II is back in Labuan Bajo at about 12:00, and the transfer drops you at the airport or your hotel at about 13:00.

The order of the stops can change with the tides, the weather and the rules of the park. Snorkelling and treks are always optional, so guests who prefer to rest can stay on board.

The highlights of the route

Kelor Island. The first trek of the trip is short but steep, and the top of the hill looks over turquoise water and the islands around Labuan Bajo.

Padar Island. A stepped path climbs to the viewpoint in about half an hour, with a view over three bays and beaches of white, pink and black sand.

Komodo Island. Rangers lead the group through the forest to see the Komodo dragons, which can grow to three metres, and explain how the park protects them.

Manta Point. Also called Makassar Reef, this is where reef manta rays come to feed and to be cleaned by small fish. They are seen in most months, though never on every visit.

A day on board Arham Jaya II

Life on Arham Jaya II follows the sun. On the second morning the group goes ashore early to climb Padar, and breakfast is served on board after the walk down. The Pink Beach and the dragon walk on Komodo Island fill the rest of the morning, and lunch is served as the boat sails on.

The afternoon belongs to the water, with Taka Makassar and Manta Point and a snack with juices in between. Dinner is served in the dining area while Arham Jaya II lies at anchor, and the evening is free for the stars, the karaoke or an early night.

Snorkelling and water fun

Arham Jaya II stops at five snorkelling spots on the 3 day 2 night trip: Manjarite on the first afternoon, the Pink Beach, Taka Makassar and Manta Point on the second day, and Siaba or Sebayur on the last morning. Fins, masks, snorkels and life jackets are on board, and the guide accompanies the group.

The reefs are mostly shallow and easy for beginners, with reef fish at every stop, turtles around Siaba and manta rays at Manta Point when the current is right. A small tender takes the group from Arham Jaya II to the beaches, and between the stops the canoe and the paddle board are free to use.

Life on board Arham Jaya II

Three meals a day are served in the dining area, with mineral water, coffee and tea and an afternoon snack with juices. The relax area on deck is the place to rest between the stops, in the sun or in the shade.

For the evenings Arham Jaya II has a smart TV and a karaoke set, and Wi-Fi keeps you in touch where the connection allows. A tour guide joins every trip, and the crew records the highlights with a camera, a drone and a GoPro.

The boat and safety

Arham Jaya II is powered by a Mitsubishi engine, with an 11,000-watt generator for the power on board, and its tanks hold 5,000 litres of fresh water. A small tender with a 15 horsepower Yamaha engine takes guests ashore.

On board there are life vests for every guest and fire extinguishers, and the crew navigates with GPS and keeps in touch by radio.

Sharing trip or private charter

On a sharing trip you book a cabin, or a place in the Share Cabin, on a scheduled departure and share Arham Jaya II with other guests. The price is per person, and each trip lasts three days and two nights.

On a private charter the whole of Arham Jaya II is yours, with its crew. Charters run for two days and one night, three days and two nights or four days and three nights, and the price depends on the length of the trip and the size of the group.

The charter tab on this page shows the charter rates for each trip length, for groups of up to fourteen guests. Send us your dates and we will check them with the operator.

About Komodo National Park

Komodo National Park lies between the islands of Sumbawa and Flores. It was created in 1980 to protect the Komodo dragon, the largest lizard on earth, and has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1991. The dragons live only on Komodo, Rinca, the west of Flores and a few smaller islands.

The currents between the islands feed some of the richest reefs in Indonesia, where snorkellers meet turtles, reef fish and manta rays. Walks among the dragons are always led by park rangers, and every visitor pays the park entrance fee, which is added to the invoice of every Arham Jaya II trip.

When to sail with Arham Jaya II

The dry season, roughly from April to November, brings calm seas, clear water and golden hills, and it is the busiest time in Komodo. December and the first months of the year are wetter, with greener islands and fewer boats in the park.

The departure list on this page shows every sharing date of Arham Jaya II that is still open. For other dates, a private charter of the whole boat is often possible: ask us with your dates.

Getting to Labuan Bajo

Labuan Bajo, on the west coast of Flores, is the gateway to Komodo National Park. Komodo Airport (LBJ) has direct flights from Bali and Jakarta, and the flight from Bali takes a little over an hour.

Arham Jaya II picks you up between 8:00 and 10:00 on the first day, so an early flight or a night in Labuan Bajo before the trip both work. On the last day the transfer drops you at the airport at about 13:00, in time for an afternoon flight. The transfers between the airport or your hotel and the boat are included in the price.

Booking, payment and park fees

You can book Arham Jaya II online with live availability: choose a departure, pick your cabins or places and send the booking. A 50% deposit is due within 72 hours and the balance 60 days before the trip; bookings made less than 60 days ahead are paid in full. The payment policy and the cancellation policy give the details.

Every Arham Jaya II sharing trip includes:

  • Transfers between the airport or your hotel and the boat
  • Three meals a day, mineral water, coffee, tea, an afternoon snack and juices
  • Shore excursions with a tour guide
  • A canoe, a paddle board and snorkelling gear
  • Photos and videos by camera, drone and GoPro
  • Wi-Fi

The Komodo National Park entrance fee is paid per person per trip, at one rate for foreign guests and a lower rate for Indonesian citizens, and it is added to the invoice. Flights, hotels, travel insurance, alcoholic drinks and tips for the crew are not included.
